Nelson: Unemployment Insurance Tax Refunds Finally Set To Go Out

--

Senate Taxes Committee Chair Carla Nelson (R- Rochester) released the following statement responding to the Minnesota Department of Revenue’s announcement that unemployment insurance refunds will begin going out next week.

“This long overdue announcement from the Department of Revenue will provide much needed clarity for those hardest hit by COVID economic downturns. The refunds will help them get back on their feet, provide stimulus to the economy, and incentivize workers to find employment with the businesses to fill job openings.”

The Senate passed conformity to Federal UI and PPP tax-free status in March, however, the Governor and House did not agree to conformity until May.
